Meet Our New Kingdom Minister of the Arts and Sciences – Mistress Aoife!

Good Greetings, Atenveldt!

TRM Ivan and Ian’ka have selected Mistress Aoife inghean Oisin to serve as our new Kingdom Minister of Arts & Sciences. (KMOAS for short).

Mistress Aoife comes to this position with a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to share her love of the Arts and Sciences with one and all.

An esteemed member of the Right Ancient Order of the Laurel, Mistress Aoife (pronounced Ee-fa) is primarily known for her exquisite metal work – creating medallions, clasps and brooches. She is also an accomplished weaver and illuminator.

Modernly, she has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on Metal and a minor in Art History. She brings all of her great knowledge to us in the SCA which is a great boon for the Kingdom.

Her service to our Kingdom is extensive. She has served as the Minister of Arts and Sciences for the Barony of Atenveldt as well as has been their Baronial A&S Champion twice.

She has served as a deputy to the KMOAS for many years, and, most recently as the Emergency Deputy, stepping in as the Acting KMOAS When Dame Jacquelin had need to step down.

Over the years, the Good Mistress has coordinated the Arts and Sciences Collegium for multiple Estrella Wars as well as served on the KMOAS staff for several Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competitions and local Arts Competitions as well.

At present, she is working hard to bring you a wonderful, newly-interactive, Kingdom Arts and Sciences Competition this coming September 30, 2018.

Mistress Aoife looks forward to meeting and working with all the Artisans and Scientists throughout our fair Kingdom. If you have not already had the pleasure of making her acquaintance, seek her out, but be aware – her love of the Arts and Sciences is infectious!

A&S at Aten University 2018

Eleven Gentles active in the areas of A&S and Scribal gathered at Aten University this past June 24th. This is an annual work-day business meeting held in our modern clothes for the purpose of all Kingdom and Group Officers to learn how to better serve the Populace in their areas of expertise.

Mistress Aoife (Ee-fa) led the discussion and provided us many useful materials to help with our offices.

Those in attendance rocked the handwork as well! Making buttons, embroidery and calligraphy.

Handwork – A Variety of Art and Artisans

Upon the occasion of TRM Ivan and Ian’ka’s ascent to the Thrones of Atenveldt, They proclaimed Their Whim that all gentle-folk should aspire to work on projects in their spare moments, like at court or in camp during a break between fighting tourneys or whenever it be convenient to work with their hands. Handwork is an age old tradition that displays the beauty and industry of the Populace. Below are some examples from King and Queen’s Champions, Phoenix Comic Con, Kingdom A&S Collegium and Boast and Toast. More to come as the Summer winds on.
